Windows Vista Clean Install errors

I have an XPS210 Windows Vista Home Premium. I did a system restore on 7/31/09 and has had problems ever since. I am able to get the automatic updates but I can't go anyother websites to download and install files. Unverifiable digital signature. If I save it to my desktop and run as an Admin windows causes the program to stop running.

Please someone help me !!!!!!!!!!

This problem has stumped Microsoft and Dell Tech support

Are you sure your antiviiral or your anti-malware software isn't the culprit here?

"A digital signature is an electronic security mark that can be added to files. It allows you to verify the publisher of a file and helps verify that the file has not changed since it was digitally signed. "

You may want to uninstall and reinstall whatever security software you're using (eg, Norton, McAfee, etc). Your system restore may have deleted/corrupted the security software's database of valid digital signatures so it's just decided that "whatever" is unsafe and it's not  going to let you install it.

I greatly appreciate your response/ Let me 1st apologize for jumping in a thread it is my 1st time posting on the forums.

I never thought of virus or whatever at first. I originally had windows live one care and it was uninstalled at the advice of Microsoft and couldn't be reinstalled. So I went out today since this post and bought McAfee Total Protection and couldn't install it either. So at the advice of their tech support I had to install it in safe mode and it was successfully put on my computer. I have opted to buy an upgrade to my current OS so I can maybe have the Windows7. I made sure that this wasn't an OEM product but authentic with the product key code. It is so amazing how you have had better insight on this in less time then all of the representatives that I have had to talk to .

A total of 4days I would say 16 hours of conversation and remote assist.   Again Thank You!

Funny there were no viruses or malware.... I believe it was just as you said when performing the system restore that is where all the quirkiness began. It is so amazing how you could solve the problem that the other couldn't in no time.

I can effectively install software too.  I really appreciate all your help Ron. I've told Microsoft and Dell about your response.

Did McAfee find any malware?

Can you install other software now?
