Windows XP Backup CD Question
When I create a Windows XP Home recovery CD using the dell supplied software, is it possible to install just the operating system and not the extra software and stuff it comes with? I understand that I would have to download drivers and such from the website for the notebook, but just wanted to know if it was possible?
Thanks,
Chris
Thanks,
Chris

The Windows XP Reinstallation CD contains a complete copy of Windows XP and nothing else. On the other hand, the PC Restore feature on the hard disk restores the system to its "as shipped" state, including everything the system came with (and nothing that has been added since).
Bear in mind that the capability of generating an operating system CD is not available on newer systems (see this post).

Correct. With luck you should be able to get it through chat or email within a couple of days. See this.

Hi:
I purchased from Dell in Canada, and the US chat works for me. If you just purchased,
it sometimes takes a few days for your purchase to be registered so as to enable you
to use chat.
