My own view of that kind of exercise is that it's pretty pointless since hard drives are large. However, if you don't mind risking losing some functionality of XP, you can look there. As he says, what works for him may not work for others. So read carefully. :-)
Proceed carefully. There are people who delete things, then they find out it's needed. Anything that is listed as a "Trial" will stop functioning at some point anyway. There are programs you simply have no need or interest in. Then there are programs that may be OK, but you already have something else that does the same thing. Just investigate what each one does and whose program it is before deleting.
It is not so much a case of what is installed but what you have allowed to be inlcuded in the startup. Trim down that list before you start deleting things.
