I am tying to restore xp on my dimension 2400 but lost my key code. I purchased a supposed key code on ebay but it didn't work either. The vendor told me to change my BIOS but couldn't say more. I'm stuck but don't want to purchase another full xp installation disk. Any ideas?

If it´s not working, call Microsoft support. You have a purchazed licence and it is just do tell the Support personel your code on the sticker on the computor and a suport tech will guide You to unlocking Your XP. I´ve done this twice.

It HAS to work if you're using your original Dell CD. Make sure you're not confusing Ohs and zeros, the letter B and 8.

If you are using a Dell reinstallation disc to install on a Dell that came with XP, you will not usually have to enter the COA or activate it.
What are you using to install?
