Windows XP OS needed

Here i am again trying to find an Windows XP operating system for a desktop of a friend.

I got lucky here about a year ago when i needed a Dell XP Professional disk for my laptop(Inspirion 6000).

Offered to pay for it and got lots of offers but one very nice woman sent me one for free. I am currently

having a problem with internet access with that computer(see network, internet, wirless forum for that problem)

anyway, my friend is a novice and has a desktop, not Dell, a generic build of some kind that was running XP Home.

his system crashed due to virus or his stupidity, and has no OS disk to reinstall his computer.  It would have to be

an OEM version that would work on any computer(not a mfgr's version).  if any of you have a MS XP OS disk laying

around or know of a place that does, and is willing to part with it for little or nothing please contact me

<ADMIN NOTE: Email ID removed as per privacy policy>.  i would appreciate it and am willing to be $ reasonable.  i try to keep beginners young and OLD

using the internet as a communication tool.

thanks

Neojones

They are getting rare to come by now however can still be found on ebay e.g. here (for Dell OEM). Actually all the ones I can find on eBay.co.uk are Dell branded and half on the eBay.com (the other half are the disc and COA key).

I am trying to get Dell to make them available to download as .iso files. In this case then you could just download them and burn them to a blank CD using the likes of imgburn (If it was a Dell system). Please promote the Idea Below.

I think I might have all the files copied to my hard drive but not the physical disc (as disc was a friends). We got a XP Home generic so she could downgrade to XP on her laptop. I also have an XP Professional Generic on the hard drive but binned the CD and COA as the laptop I used it on broke. I have used nlite to make both discs up to date.
