Windows XP Professional 64 Bit

Why is their no support drivers for Windows XPP 64 bit on most Dell machines - seems support stopped at the Optiplex 620. I'm aware that XP is fading away ( thanks to Microsoft newer operating systems that are basically all show and little go). If you haven't tried it, XP 64 bit runs faster and better than Vista  and is a MUCH better OS than Windows 8. Any chance of getting drivers for XP 64 bit on machines newer than the 620?

The OptiPlex 7010 is one of the most current Dell systems and XPx64 is supported on it (below).  The primary reason for supporting XP at all is for legacy software support ... XPx64 is no where near as common as x86 for these situations, so if XPx64 support wanes, it makes perfect sense to me.  Personally, I think people should be grateful Dell has extended it on so many systems for so long - and perhaps that has perpetuated the lack of preparation companies have made in moving to a modern OS.  Frankly, if XP is still needed, it should be done through virtualization (which I realize is not always possible, but considering how old XP is and the hardware that was designed for it, there should be very little any more than cannot be done in a VM on the right hardware).

Death to XP!  ;)

You should see Windows XP SP3 and Office 2003 - End of Life April 2014 before committing to a Windows XP install. Windows 7 is a very good OS, I can't say the same about Windows 8.
