Windows XP Startup Theme Problems.
When my computer starts the XP start theme is broken up into sometimes 1 or 2 places. My computer came this way but dell wont help me unless I pay for the software support. Any ideas on how to fix this would be appreciated. Thanks in advance..

Suggest you uninstall the sound card (or soundmax module) in the Windows Device Manager, restart Windows and it will detect and reinstall the sound card. That has helped some in the past.
If that doesn't take care of it, reinstall the Dell sound card drivers.
Sound is a "low priority" item in the Operaing System's Interrupt scheme and depending on what is being loaded at startup and where the sound command is in the startup list, it can be "interrupted" by higher priority items being loaded. Usually one of the two suggestions, above, will reposition the sound and take care of it.

I tried both of your suggestions and the windows startup theme still breaks up. I know the startup theme works ,when I go to Sounds & Audio Devices - Sounds Tab and click on Start Windows and "Windows XP Startup" is in the Sounds box and I play it it sounds fine.

I tried what you said and a different sound did work, several I tried worked fine. Its not a big deal regarding the startup theme.I just want to figure out what could be wrong.
I appreciate the help from the both of you, thanks again.
