Windows XP Taskbar

I recently had to replace my hdd on my laptop.  Once I reinstalled Windows XP Pro, which went smooth, I can't get the task bar to stay the size I like it.  I've never had this problem before.  Yes, I unlock the task bar before anyone asks.  I then drag it up to make it twice as high, then I lock it back.  The next time I turn on the laptop, its back to the single height again.
