Windows xp Word/Fonts

I have an Inspiron 5100 with xp and just purchased a Dimension 8400 with xp.   Both have the Home Edition with Word and WordPerfect but the new 8400 does not have my favorite font, Papyrus.
Can I get this font without paying thirty bucks for it??    I went to Control Panel and Fonts but it's not there either.

Jerry,

Do you have Publisher installed on the 5100 and not on the 8400 ? The Papyrus font comes with Publisher as shown here .

Win XP Home edition does not come with Word. It's a part of Office, not Windows, and since you have WPerfect, you might not actually have MS Word unless you installed it yourself. Word = Winword.exe.

Actually, the 5100 came with XP and has Word but the 8400 came with WordPerfect but I've installed Office.   How do I get Publisher?   The 5100 has it but the 8400 does not.

Jerry,

The only versions that come with "Publisher" are the "Professional Edition" and the "Small Business" edition. What version of Office did you install in the 8400 ? Did you order Office from Dell when you purchased your 8400 ? If you did purchase Office from Dell and you have a version that does not include Publisher, you can return it and pay the difference for a version that includes Publisher, providing you are within 21 days of your invoice date. Or, you can purchase a stand alone version. But, either way is going to cost more than the $30 for the Papyrus font. If all you want is the font, try a "Google" search for it, I'm sure you can find it for free.

Jerry,

If you already have one computer that has the papyrus font installed on it, all you have to do is copy the font onto a floppy disk or CD-RW, take that disk to the new 8400, open the fonts folder there, click on File > Install New Font, then point it to the floppy disk or CD-R where you copied the font.

Steve,

I tried that one time a while back and it would'nt allow me to copy it. Hmmm, I'll have to give it another try.

Since I run multiple computers, all with slightly different programs and fonts installed, I routinely find that a font I used in a file on one computer is not present on another computer where I'm trying to use the same file.  I routinely copy fonts that I need from one computer and install them on the computer where they are needed.  You probably cannot copy the fronts from the Control Panel - Fonts folder.  Instead you need to open Windows Explorer,  browse the the folder where the actual fonts are stored (C:\Windows\Fonts) and copy them from there.

It worked!  I  have copied the font from one computer and have successfully installed it on the other.  It wasn't easy (for me!) and I'm not sure I could do it again but thanks!  I think I copied the font to a new folder and copied that folder to a CD then put the CD in the new computer and went to Control Panel/Fonts and clicked Install Font.......

Thanks to everyone who responded!
