WIRELESS ISSUE! Please help a poor soul....

Question

Hi all.  Here's my issue....   I have an Inspiron E1705.  Never had an issue with it at all.  Been using Wireless for over 2 years and it automatically logs on to my network every time.  Piece of cake.   Today I come home from work and my wireless is not running.  The Router is working perfectly fine for my other laptop.  So, I double-click on the wireless computer screens in the bottom right hand corner and I get the following message:   'WIndows cannot configure this wireless connection.  If you have enabled another program to manage this wireless connection, use that software.  If you want Windows to configure this wireless connection, start the Wireless Zero Configuration service.   I then click on 'Change Advanced Settings' and there is NO 'Wireless Networks' tab in the 'Wireless Network Connection Properties' menu.  Strange.  Only the 'General' and 'Advanced' tabs appear.   So, I go through to Run > services.msp and double-click on the 'ireless Zero Configuration'  It is showing 'Automatic' is in place but it is not showing 'Started'. So I click on 'Start' and OK.     I then go back to the 'Wireless Network Connection' and click on 'Change Advanced Settings' again and the 'Wireless Networks' tab is there!  I click on it and check the box 'Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings'.  My router is the only one listed in the Preferred Networks box.   And VOILA!  Wireless is back in business! HOWEVER, when I shut down or restart, all the settings revert to the old and I have no wireless again!  I have to repeat all the steps above to get it back! WHAT HAPPENED TO ME?   By the way, my computer is using the 'Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN Mini-Card' to connect.  IS THIS THE PROBLEM????   Thanks for everyone's help!

Open the Dell Wireless Utility and uncheck the box next to 'Let this tool manage your wireless networks'.   Steve

On some systems, it's in Start > All Programs > Dell Wireless.  On other systems it's in Start > Control Panel > Switch to Classic View (if not alreday there) > Wireless Configuration (or something like that).   Steve
