WMI Provider Host does not responding

Hello,

Having a Dimension 530 with Vista Home Ed., SP2 I get allways "WMI Provider Host does not responding" short after I boot the computer every time and since I own this computer. All other works fine - no problems at all. But I cant find usefull hints also within other forums to stop this annoying message.

thx for hints, Steffen

Have you read this from Microsoft?

yes I did and I installed all suggested patches - but did'nt improve the situation.

I read also this:

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/support/ee/transform.aspx?ProdName=Windows%20Operating%20System&ProdVer=5.2&EvtID=1000&EvtSrc=Application%20Error&LCID=1031

There is written from problems with "Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2007 agent on a Dell", but I don't have installed this SW.

Your link doesn't work for me...

I'll ask the experts to see if anyone has any suggestions for you.

Just thought of this, but I don't use Vista so this may not apply to your problem.

Click Start>Run

Type in: services.msc

Click OK

When the list opens, look for WMI Provider Host. If it's on the list, double-click it and check its Startup Type on the next screen. You may want to set it to Automatic, if not already set that way. Exit back to the desktop and reboot.

SInce I don't have Vista, I'm not even sure WMI Provider Host will be listed as a Service. In XP, I see WMI Performance Adaptor on the list of Services, but I don't think that's the same thing.
