As Steve has suggested many solutions to computer problems can be discerned by reading the Google first-page results. If nothing else sometimes you get an idea of what's causing the problem and you can thus narrow your search by adding more (search)  words.

May be a tough find for a novice. Take a quick look at this link and try it if it applies to your software.

You know Volcano the first response to google in your post refers to Microsoft exchange which I really doubt will help this person. If your "help" refers to searching google then please go away. You are a waste of time,

Give a man a fish; you have fed him for a day. Teach a man to fish; and you have fed him for a lifetime.

With 27,000+ posts it appears that Steve has both fed and taught. What can you offer ?

From Google, I gather that Outlook may be a comon thread, and perhaps Norton Office Plug-in, Google Desktop Search, even something called Business Contact Manager.

Assuming you don't have MS Exchange Server installed AND that your XP system is not an upgrade installation from Windows 98, here are a few options:

-uninstall anything Google

-check your startup folder to see what's loading from there, if anything

-repair Outlook from Add|Remove\Change|Remove...\Repair (Outlook)

-uninstall Office, reboot, re-install Office (Warning: make sure you know how to maintain profiles, documents and the like; not a major Office user.)
