Word Perfect 11 & File Sharing Problem

I am having a problem getting Word Perfect 11 to share files.  On computer 1 I can access the files; but, on computer 2 I get the message:  This document is in use or is specified as read-only.  You may edit the document, but you must save it with a new name.  Continue?  Yes or No.  If I answer NO, I get a blank screen.  If I answer YES, I get the message:  The file, as specified in the execution parameters, cannot be opened.  OK.  When I click on OK, I still get just a blank Word Perfect document - not the file that I opened.  On the old 2 computers, I had Word Perfect 8 and they shared files perfectly; but for some reason, it is like Word Perfect 11 encrypts them so they can't be shared.  I hired a computer tech person to check the settings and everything is set so that they should share files; but they don't.  Please e-mail at cbmcgann@charter.net if you have a solution to this problem.  Thanks!

Cb mcgann,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

This could be caused by a lock on concurrent access to a file.  You should shut down the WP program on all of your computers before proceeding to reopen it on one machine.

Thanks for the info; but, we have tried that.  We will totally get out of Wordperfect on the 1st computer and it still will not bring up some of the files in the same folder on the 2nd computer.  It will bring up some files in the folder; but, not consistantly.  We seem to have more problems with files that have a table in them.  Any suggestions?

Could there be a built-in firewall setting in Wordperfect 11 or Windows XP Professional that I should check?

I've enable file sharing on the drive and on the folders. All other software shares fine. WP 10 shares fine. WP 11 does not.

Ideas?

Thanks a bunch

I too am having the same problem as described. In our office we have wordperfect 9,10 and 11. Wordperfect 11 won't share all of the files. Has anyone solved this particular problem? It is getting rather tedious and I have to consider "dumbing down" the new machines to a lesser version. I have found that if you save the file as a word perfect composite instead of the compatable (default) 7,8,9,10,11 it will work but that is really not the answer. Turning off all the machines is dumb... so what gives? What is different about 11?

All responses will be appreciated.
