well most sources on the internet say to partition. but if you insist on having vista and xp without any paritioning(paritionmagic reccomended if you do..)

then
install vista to say c:\windows
and xp to say c:\windows2
(with vista you may need to change boot sequence to boot from cd rom and boot using xp)

now windows xp boots from boot.ini using ntldr or whatever
and vista has its own boot ..

it did not seem to work by putting vista on the boot list


using the program VistaBootPRO (FREE) you can

when you want to run xp uninstall and when you want to run vista reinstall ..

I'm sure there is a more convenient way perhaps one partition if on either boot loader you could add both vista and xp ..

but this works ...

if anyone knows a better way please do post...this is certainly a beginner approach perhaps but it works...


You have vista? why use xp?
I am using vista beta ...
1)a) it expires ...perhaps I can get full version eventually
b)when it expires I don't want to struggle with the operating system setup
2) sound drivers don't work for warcraft 3 with vista (at least not RC1 Build 5600...they work perfectly with XP...)
3) Gunz..an online game does not work with WINDOWS VISTA...because of game cheat protection which does not require vista..and running in compatability mode does not help
