XP doesnt recognize my Cable Modem

Question

Hello everyone...   I reinstalled Win XP on my system (Dimension 8300)... When I go to my Networking options and I try to create a Internet connection is not working the forder keeps empty.. I turned off my modem and put it back on and still not working.... Any help?   Thanks in advance!
