xp home minor glitches
Having a few minor glitches with xp home. For example dvd player stops and starts at random while playing known good commercial dvd movies. A few others. Dell tech (?) support says reinstall xp. I can backup and do that but i really don't want to.
Anybody had experience with xp repair?
8200, p4 2.6, 2 wd 80gig hd in raid 1 array, Plextor burner, liteon dvd, sgi 18.1 lcd, xp home with sp1 and all critical updates.
Thanks for any comments.
Richard

It's normally not necessary to backup your stuff before a Repair Install but monthly backups is not a bad idea in itself. Before you do the Repair Install try running the System File Checker. To do this go to Start|Run and enter this command:
sfc /scannow
Sometimes MS comes out with a hot fix for a particular problem. Wait for a day or so to see if someone posts it here.
PS I don't see any specific hot fix for this except the ones covered in SP1 (Service Pack 1); I'm assuming you have SP1 already installed. Here is a helpful link re DVDs.
