XP Install Question

Can I use the Windows XP installation disc that came with my Inspiron 5150 to install Windows on my older Inspiron 7500?

If the 7500 came with XP, the answer is yes

Not true. An OEM license only allows you to use the software on the specific computer it came with. In other words, when that computer is old and slow and it is time to throw it away, that license must legally be thrown away as well.
Despite the ease of management, an OEM license is designed to be disposable and is not an investment

Yes it can be true.

That is why Rich  asked if the 7500 came with XP.

If the 7500 had the same version of XP installed as the Inspiron 5150 has.
And if RHB1963 has the original Product Key for the 7500

If the above are both true, then RHB1963 could use the installation CD for the 5150, but use the Product Key for the 7500

There is no transfer of licence, which is really what you are paying for.
