XP print server and serial printers
I've got a strange problem with Windows XP and serial printers, and am wondering if anybody else has heard of it, or might be able to point me in a good direction.
In my setup, the print server is running XP-Pro, with an Okidata serial printer. The print clients are both W2K and XP Pro. The first time the XP-Pro system is booted and somebody attempts to print to it over the network the printer will either print garbage, or print nothing.
If I log on locally to the print server and print something, then everything works fine and people can print to it across the network.
It is as iff the serial port is not being initilized properly until somebody prints from the local system.
Any Ideas? BTW this works like a champ on a W2K print server.
