XP Pro Network Password Issue

I have a computer that is on a local network, my issue is this: I am trying to reset user. I get to the ctrl/alt/del screen. I put in my name and password and it says "unable to login to blc(that's our domain) domain"  I put in an old admin name and password and it says the same thing.  I can try to login in on domain or as a user at the workstation(but don't have old user password). Can I bypass this through bios or in safe mode? Are there other options?

my thinking is 1)ethernet port is bad(I know cable is good) 2)Another issue I haven't thought of is bad

If I try to put in an ethernet card and I still can't get on the network, what's my next step.

Try unjoing the machine from the domain and then rejoining it.  You will have to log on locally then rejoin the box.  Make sure you have the correct NetBios name is the AD.

I have tried to do that, but my password(as new admin) doesn't work, cuz this machine hasn't been online in about 6 months. I don't have old passwords.  So how do I unjoin if no passwords allow? Using Bios?? or some other back door?

Thanks

Can you log on as a Local Admin?  If not, wiping the drive is you only hope unless you have others within your Domain with higher Admin rights (a contianer above yours).

I could not login as administrator. Someone had changed and locked Windows default password Administrator. I did get in but had to find someone who had some software that could change it. It all works well, thanks.
