XP Pro Reinstall Question

I recently reinstalled XP Pro and upon startup recieved a license error message (the license is fixed with Dell now). Now I have a blue screen with no place to go since my DVD drive decided not to work. I will be purchasing a new DVD/CD burner drive and hopefully this will solve the problem. In particular, this one
Will I be able to put it in, pop the XP reinstall disc in, and boot the new disc from start up?

Please post your model of Dell, so others can help you.
 
That is a Pata (ide) optical drive you are looking at on newegg, it will work if you system currently has a Pata dvd installed.
 
Be sure to set the jumper on the new drive to cable select (CS) before installing it in your Dell.
