Good to see a post bearing good news. I've now installed SP2 on 10 computers and I've yet to have a problem on any of them. As I've stated on other forums none of the computers I've installed SP2 on are not running any third party junk that professes to make Windows run better. One more thing, all of the aforementioned computers use Windows Firewall and have never had a virus or trojan af any kind.

Ed, if I have problems, will you install it on mine? Just kidding.
I'm not sure whether to install SP2 on my current configuration, or just start over with a clean install of Windows. I am going to try the first option. Then the second option if things go haywire.
I did a clean install on only one of the computers. The reason for that was the owner wanted it done because the computer is two years old and thought it might be a good time to get it done.
It worked for me quite well. My wireless network has improved greatly with the A and G system. On the cabled LAN system at work (same Dell I8200 portable) I get an occasional info-balloon at the tray, that tells me the LAN cable is disconnected, which it is not. I had to disable the SP2 Firewall to stop this. It must have a conflict with the Firewall in our network hardware? Perhaps. Other that that, all seems well.
It was a fresh install, as luck would have it, I upgraded my hard drive the weekend the download was released.
My experience paralells Eds . . installed on a dozen or so and so far only one issue with a 3rd party program that was easily fixed . . about a third of mine have been clean installs from a slipstreamed disc . . works well.
Same here Eddj, i installed right over sp2 rc2 without a hitch, i had some other beta stuff on here that i'm testing so at this time i didn't do a clean install. Like you i run no third party firewall, adaware, etc. I think the beefer security in sp2 plus the popup blocker that has blocked 100% is fantastic just my 2 cents.
since you mentioned the pop-up blocker 1Bowtie, i've been using the Google toolbar which has its own pop-up blocker. should I remove it before installing SP2?
I think to each his own, I've heard the google toolbar works really well but for me the less third party stuff i have the better. The popup blocker in sp2 works 100% for me so thats what i use.
I ordered the update cd from microsoft instead of downloading. Took about a week to get it after ordering. Everything seems to be working fine. I have a Dell Dimension 8100, running AVG antivirus, Zonealarm, Adaware, Spybot, and Firefox browser. Before updating, I went into msconfig and unchecked all the startup items and rebooted.
After the update was finished - I had to redo the msconfig because windows had checked a bunch of startup items that I didnt want running.
Oh, windows was nice enough to reinstall windows messenger again, so I had to look up the removal procedure for that again.
I turned off the auto update and windows firewall, since I think Zonealarm is better. The SP2 popup blocker is a nonfactor here, because Firefox already has a really good blocker built it.

I just want to see what the hype is all about.
