XP SP2 Setup Fails

Have 18-20 Dimensions on network and have installed SP2 on all but 1.  All were purchased with XP Pro OEM version at various times.  Am now trying to get SP2 on last machine.  Using either SP2 disk OR downloaded SP2 (Win Update), the SP install crashes with a message that an "Internal Error has occurred".  Always happens at same point during the System Inspection routine when "Checking Product Key" is the step shown on the screen.  In MS Newsgroup, several reports of this occurring on systems that had "well-known pirated keys".  I don't see how this could be the issue with an OEM version, but can't find any mention of this problem elsewhere.  Any help?  Thanks in advance.

Try creating a Slipstreamed copy of your XP with the SP2 in in
Use a program called Autosteramer ... then install the cd in the
pesky computer and let do a repair install .. if all goes well,
you should be up to SP2

Had to do a little looking about what slipstreaming is.  I read one thing that said you often can't use an OEM disk (like Dell) to slipstream a service pack into, since it already includes updates.  True or no?  I'm game to try, but don't want to spend time if effort is doomed.  Thanks.

Using the Advanced Forum Search on the bottom of this page, you can quite easily find the answer to this often asked question.

Not true, you just have to delete the service packs during the process.  I posted that info in the past few days, just do a search.
