XP (SP)2

Is Dell going to offer an update for SP2 or should we do it from the MS update site when its released? Also will Dell be offering any advice , tips etc for us before and if we take the plunge? I have been reading about a lot of things that could go wrong or stop working after the update so any pointers would be helpful

Thanks

It will come via Windows Update.  Your best bet is to read these forums after the release.  If it causes problems, they will show up here rather quickly.  I would not install it right away, wait to see if any problems are posted here first.  Kip

On my system below, SP-2 RC-2 Version 2162 has been running for the past few weeks without a problem, knock of wood, so I hope SP-2 final will be very good for us all.

If all they are going to achieve with SP2 is raise the default security settings in XP and IE to a slightly less naive operating level, I'll be disappointed.

I've disabled XP's ability to answer the door whenever a stranger knocks, and I have a safety and security team that assures all entry and exit is pre-authorized and that no recognizable weapons or obvious health hazards are present.

I've already trained IE not to accept candy from strangers, and check with me before putting anything in it's mouth even when offered from friends and relatives.

Do I really need Uncle Bill coming in and setting lower standards and expectations than I've already established? Will my XP and IE have to be re-trained after receiving this update?
