XP Won't Shut Down

Question

I just got a new Dell Precision M90. Works great, except for the fact that when I try to turn it off through the Start Menu -> Turn Off Computer, it doesn't shut down. Sometimes an end-task window comes up which I cancel. Has anyone else had this problem or have any insight? Thanks!

Give User Profile Hive Cleanup service (uphclean.exe), free from Microsoft a try. You can download it here:

i get the same prob - first end task window is always for MB_DummyWindow - any ideas what this is...
sometimes there are a few end task windows, sometimes so many that i do a hard shutdown.

always the last end task window before it shuts down is explorer.exe

anyone solved this problem?
