The 'Dell Product Group' team has not tested this system with Windows 8. Usually, systems that were shipped with Windows 7 should work with Windows 8. As of now, there is no update regarding the drivers for this system.

If you want to install Windows 8 on your system, you can run the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant before installing Windows 8. Upgrade Assistant checks your computer hardware to see if it meets the Windows 8 system requirements. Here is the link to download http://bit.ly/PSGwvj and click on ‘Download Upgrade Assistance’.

If everything checks out, then you can continue installing Windows 8, however as mentioned earlier, the drivers are not available as of now. You can try installing the drivers for Windows 7.

You can try this unofficial set here: http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/software-os/w/microsoft_os/4248.windows-8-drivers-direct-links.aspx most the drivers are taken from the L502x but should work with the L501x, let me know if you can install these or not.
