Loading and Running .EXEs on ThinOS

Hello,

Newbie to ThinOS and Wyse in general here. I'm wondering if it's possible to load and run a .exe on ThinOS.

The use-case is that there's a VPN client that I'd like to install, and then have users connect through that and hit network resources in a browser.

Is this something that ThinOS is capable of doing, or is it merely a vessel to use for connecting to a broker, and therefore not capable of loading applications? Would I need to use W10 IoT instead?

Thanks!

ThinOS is a closed purpose-built OS.  Only firmware and packages provided by dell can be loaded on the device.  This is a security feature.  If you require local software installation, then you would be better suited with a windows 10 IOT-based thin client, or Linux-based (Dell Hybrid client).  Dell has devices with all 3 operating systems.

Thanks. This is what I figured, but couldn't find this explicitly stated anywhere. In addition, I was able to load an .EXE into WMS and attempt to push it to clients, but the job never completed.

Thanks again for replying!
