XPS 27 AIO, KVM switch usage?

I have an XPS 27 AIO and want to run an older windows 7 machine through the monitor, keyboard and mouse of the XPS. I have seen messages about HDMI to VGA, and wondered if that's still a solution?

My head hurts thinking about a KVM switch on an All-in-One

It might work ... since a wired USB keyboard and mouse would still work when AiO was switched to HDMI-In, right?

Maybe even wireless if you insert the dongle into the KVM box ? However, a "standalone - self powered" KVM box might be required.

However, I think it would be much easier to just Remote-Into the other (headless) machine over Ethernet.

Exactly which "XPS 27" do you have?

The XPS 27-7760 has only 1 HDMI port, which is an HDMI-OUT to provide video and audio output to TV or external monitor. So connecting the other PC via HDMI isn't possible because you need an HDMI-IN port on the XPS 27-7760 to use it as a display for the Win 7 PC.

On the other hand, the XPS 2710 and XPS 2720 have both HDMI-OUT and HDMI-IN ports, so you might be able to use the display on one of these AiO PCs as a display for the other PC.
