XPS 8930, two operating systems?
I have an old XPS one of the first generation and am now considering upgrading to an 8930 with a 1TB M2 pcle ssdx4 however, I would also like to add an additional drive possibly an SSD and install an older dual booted Operating system (win 7) for some of my software that will not run well if at all on Win 10 would this be a viable option with this computer?

First try installing and running that old software in Compatibility Mode for Win 7 in Win 10.
I have Win XP software running on a Win 10 lappy using compatibility mode....

Thanks for the reply a good suggestion, however, I think my question was badly worded and didn't fully convey what I wanted to know.
What I am trying to find out is if some of my old software does not run would it be possible to add an SSD install win 7 and set dual boot option in Bios or would the configuration that I'm considering purchasing with the M2 make doing that very difficult?

I don't think you'll have a problem dual booting, whether via the BIOS or Windows boot manager. Putting Windows 7 on a non-NVMe drive might make things easier (I don't think Win7 natively knows about NVMe). I don't think the 8930 has Legacy Boot, so you'll likely need to install/boot Windows 7 via UEFI. There's a thread on that here.
The real issue, though, is likely finding Windows 7 drivers for the 8930. To get around that it might be possible to run Windows 7 within a Virtual Machine running inside Windows 10. Not sure whether that works including with your software.

Drivers for Windows 7 is not the only issue. Intel 7th generation and newer processors will be blocked from receiving Windows 7 security updates.

...won't help with decision making re the 8930, but you could also try installing your software on Windows 10 in Windows 7 compatibility mode (select .exe, right-click, Properties, Compatibility tab), as RoHe suggested.
If you haven't already, find a Windows 10 machine and try it. Or, if you've got a spare disk, install Windows 10 on your existing machine and do so. Might not be definitive, but will give you an indication of whether the software might work.

1. Run them side-by-side until you finish migration.
2. What software? Any software that doesn't run properly should be updated ... it's almost 2019.
3. No, not really.
Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever attempted an old-school Dual-Boot on a newer UEFI-based system.
