XPS 8940, mic issue
Hello. I have researched the Dell forums and attempted all the solutions I could find and still my Dell XPS can't detect any headset mic from Turtle Beach or Arctis 3. The headphone portions work, but not the mic. I've done troubleshooting on the Privacy settings, Device Manager, Reinstalling the realtek drivers, audio drivers uninstall and reinstall, Microphone App permissions section in settings, trying different wires such as Y adapter for 2 3.5mm mic and headphone splitter on 2 different headsets, but here's where it gets interesting. I also uninstalled Maxx Pro and reinstalled it. I also tried the mic with and without the software.
My Blue Snowball USB mic is working just fine. I unplug the Blue Snowball so I can troubleshoot the headsets before and after unplugging and plugging in the headset mics front and back with adapters, there is no shaded out mic or detection dialogue box. It won't show the enable or disable mic/device in properties of the mic, its like the Mic portion of the card doesn't exist or burned out.
In my frustration, I went ahead and ordered a creative labs pcie soundcard for $39 from Amazon. https://a.co/d/cWNfBzT What is the main issue with the XPS 8940 platform that is causes mic issues? Is Dell going to fix this because several forums/posts discuss this issue and some fixed to work for some people and not other. However with my luck, non of the fixes worked and here I am, having to buy a soundcard!
