XPS 8940, performance issues, low FPS

Hello,

I received my new XPS 8940 a few days ago. I was very excited to see a performance increase from my 4 year old midrange PC in games that I play such as EFT and Fortnite, but that hasn't been the case so far. In EFT I'm receiving 25-45 FPS at low settings, and in Fortnite I'm receiving heavy stuttering issues, also even at low settings. I've made sure to update my drivers to the latest versions. Here are the results of a User benchmark test I ran which includes most of the PC Specs:

I'm not really sure what my options are. After reading some threads here, it seems that the issue is likely at least partially related to the CPU overheating quickly and bottlenecking the GPU. I'm wondering if it would be worth picking up a third party cooler for the CPU, or if I would be better off pursuing a different option. After being so excited to get this PC, it's been very disappointing having it be outperformed by my old PC which is only running a 1060.

Thank you,

When I received my XPS 8940 I noticed micro-freezes.  I changed the BIOS from RAID to AHCI and simultaneously performed a clean install.  These two actions solved my problem.  Been rock steady since.

You're welcome.  I noticed your userbenchmark scores and Wow.  That's not good.  Something's definitely not right here.  Not even close.

Thanks for the reply Sparky. I tried to do as you did but unfortunately it didn't seem to do the trick.

Yeah there's something definitely not right. The computer struggles with gaming or any kind of multitasking. It seems at this point that my best option is to send the PC back.
