XPS 8950, RAID setting in BIOS
I have an XPS 8950 that came with a NVMe 1tb ssd (boot) and a 1tb hdd. I have removed the hdd and installed a Samsung 2.5 inch sata ssd in its place. I have also added a second 1tb NVMe drive (Firecuda 530). In the bios settings RAID is set to on. Is this ok or should I change it? I am just wanting to use each of the non boot drives to store different files, I am not looking for redundancy or really wanting all the drives to be tied together.

I changed my SATA setting from the default RAID to AHCI after experiencing an intermittent problem whereby the SSD hosting the OS was not recognized by the BIOS on boot up. As of writing, the problem has not recurred, but its only been 24 hours.
Change can be done without reinstalling Windows by following this procedure (documented in many other places) ... https://asapguide.com/ahci-ssd-without-reinstall/

it would not work. The Dell bios default bios setting of RAID is to use the Dell ssd as a cache drive working with the hdd in RAID 0 striping mode, also known as Intel rapid storage technology. the addition of the second ssd would not work w 1st ssd in RAID mode. But if you change BIOS from Dell default raid to AHCI, pc would not boot from the ssd anymore. you would need to reinstall OS in the Dell ssd in AHCI mode.

So I should just leave it on raid? All 3 drives work and the computer boots fine. I am only wondering because someone told me I should change it to AHCI.

I switched to AHCI using the instructions in the link that stevew43 provided. Everything seems to work fine. One point that I would add is that when my PC boots to safe mode the graphics card doesn't work and I had to use a cable (display port to HDMI) to be able to see anything on the screen. So if anyone else is trying this, I would say make sure that you have a cable that you can use with your integrated graphics to your monitor. Thank you very much to everyone that has replied.
