XPS One 2720, LCD/display problem

hello,

i have a Dell xps one 2720 with a display problem. see picture below

The display has green color, always. The rest works fine, so the green color is only issue.

When i plug an external monitor, that monitor displays the right colors, so its not a software issue i think.
When i use the dell as an external monitor on my other laptop, it also shows green on the Dell.

did anyone have the same issue? and how was it fixed?
is it the Tcon board? or the LCD itself?

thanks

Always include version of Windows in your posts.

Reboot and immediately press F12. Look for the Diagnostics option on the F12 menu and run all of them. If the colors have a green tint, it's possible the LCD panel has failed. Copy error messages, if any.

Does this system have the nVidia graphics card or only onboard Intel HD Graphics? If you open the video control panel for whichever one you have, can you try to adjust the color settings on that screen?

Thanks for the reply.

It runs on windows 10. It has the inboard graphic card + the nvidia.

When I'm at home in 2 days I'll try to check more, but on the inboard graphic i tried to change the color but it didn't work.

Didn't run the test trough F12 yet, but i tried it on the touchscreen button on screen during startup and then it showed green in most colors, only red looked like it showed as red

@Dell2720 did you end up sorting this problem? I've just had my 2720 get into a similar thing, where one of the base colours is not displayed so everything that should be white is actually pink. the shift in colour happened while the pc was on (heard a little "tick" sound and the colours changed). Something is definitely broken (colors on an external screen are alright and the pinkness of the display spreads to the bios screens too).

my 2720 get into a similar thing,

1. where one of the base colours is not displayed so everything that should be white is actually pink.

2. the shift in colour happened while the pc was on (heard a little "tick" sound and the colours changed).

1. Press F12 as machine boots. See if colors are correct in BIOS and ePSA Test.

Good color = LCD-Panel and video card are likely good
Bad color = Hardware problem

2. Sounds like something fried and popped. Once the "magic smoke" escapes, the chip and/or circuit is dead forever.

Question

I have the same model XPS 2720. The screen is garbage and  if but if I use it with external display its alright. Could it be the board with the GPU having some issues?

Thanks

@SimpleTech  Did you run the pre-boot Diagnostics from the F12 menu, as mentioned above?

Could be the LCD panel or the converter board.  The converter board is replaceable. See Service Manual.

I did replace that one already its the same results.

@SimpleTech  If you already replaced the converter board with no improvement, then it could be the LCD panel.  Did you run the diagnostics from the F12 menu?

@SimpleTech  I only respond to posts in public threads like this one. I do not give private/personal tech support.

If replacing the converter board didn't fix the display problem. You may want to contact Dell's Out-Of-Warranty Repair service for a cost estimate to fix it.
