BIOS 2.8.1 - internet problems

On Sunday I got the message that I needed to install some updates including the BIOS update. I set it going and all seemed fine. However since then all of the browsers on my laptop have had difficulties either loading at all or maintaining a connection, eventually not responding and needing a Task Manager shut down. 

I’ve reinstalled Chrome but the problem persists and I’m essentially left with a useless laptop! Does anyone have any ideas?
