@Shredmore I remember seeing this option discussed with respect to the XPS 15 9550, which was Dell's first XPS 15 with Thunderbolt. I don't think that option even made it to the 9560 generation, and more recently there are threads indicating that a BIOS update to the 9550 removed that option. Thunderbolt is an Intel technology, so it's possible that their newer Thunderbolt chipsets removed it, and now apparently even their newer firmware for older chipsets.

@jphughan , thanks for the response. I have also seen Bios Assist Enumeration mentioned for the XPS 15 9570, but not for any new laptops. I have not seen anything suggesting that Bios updates removed the option, but it's possible.
