Dell dropping support for Ubuntu Linux
I keep getting confused and unhelpful statements from Dell support people stating that Dell is no longer supporting the computers they sold with Ubuntu pre-installed. This, of course, is wrong since companies should stand behind products they sell.
But can someone explain exactly what the situation is and why the change? The closest to a coherent explanation I got is that it's just the same as Dell no long supporting Windows 7 because MS does not support Windows 7.
The problem, of course, is that 20.04LTS is supported by Ubuntu until April 2025.
So I'd love a clear and honest explanation about Dell's policy change.

I've been ready to upgrade my XPS 13 again and have been looking for XPS 13 with either Qualcomm Elite or new Intel Ultra 2 chipset as developer edition.
Nothing available or annunced that I can find.
The laptop models that do offer LInux still offer 22.04 whcih looks increasingly out of date now that 24.04 has been out for 8 months.
Barton George changed jobs and there's 0 news about Project Sputnik.
It looks like Linux/Ubuntu at Dell is dying.
Some sort of announcement either way would be helpful.
Officially supported Linux was a key reason for buying XPS laptops. Without that Dell stops being an option for me.

The fact that no one from Dell has replied to my post of a year ago from yesterday maybe says something about the level of concern they have for their customers.
