Dell Premium Active pen PN579x Coating Issues

Hi,

The coating on the active pen for my XPS 2-in-1 is breaking apart and is getting really bad. Is there a warranty on this product or a way to fix it?

I am currently having this same issue. I didn't use the pen often for a long time and kept it in its box but from recent use it has started to peel. I have babied it along the way and for some reason the coating is already coming off. I really hope there is some type of warranty to replace this. Please let me know if you find anything out.

I've been talking to Dell Support but it seems like they consider, and I quote, "The peeling of the paint cover is considered as wear and tear during the usage. Unfortunately, it is not covered under warranty guidelines."

However, I have a similar experience as you did and only after a week or 2 of usage the coating started to peel. I've provided this additional information to Dell and if the response is still the same, I'm considering seeking recourse through the Lemon Law.

And apparently we are not the only case. https://www.dell.com/community/XPS/Active-Pen-PN579X-coating-coming-off/td-p/7388697

Same thing happened to me too! I just didn't report it. This is a product defect by manufacturer. No way this wouldn't happen to anyone given the way it's attached to the pen and flimsy material used.

I was hoping to see if it happened to others, why I'm here searching for it.

I was going to see if tearing it all off was an ok thing to do, seems like the plastic under the coating is nicer anyway.

If Dell is here, what are my options?

Thank you,
Ryan

I have the same issue as well. The coating started coming off after a few days of use.

Is there any way to fix this?
