even using the connector from up top i cannote get any sound from the docking station, im not sure but i think this docking station does not support audio, and if so please someone needs to explain how, ive gotten adapter and have scoured all settings and cannot get this to see a different audio system other than the laptops and the monitor.
Yes, the picture of the 3.5mm to USB-C adapter above is the solution. That's what I use - it works fine. It's a shame it doesn't come with an audio port (biggest drawback to this docking station) so you have to use one of the few USB ports for it. You can also get a 3.5mm to USB-A adapter if you prefer.

Also looking for a solution to this as well. This docking station is recommended for a gaming laptop, but does not support audio?
