Dell XPS 15 9510 Adding a fingerprint reader
I just received a new Dell XPS 15. During the purchase process, I was told it would come with a fingerprint reader, but that does not seem to be the case. Would it be possible to add it later by buying a new power button? Or is returning the laptop the only option?

It's model dependent -- but the sensor is part of the palmrest keyboard assembly, which would need to be replaced. Beyond the cost, it requires a total system teardown so it's not a practical post-purchase addition.

@ejn63 is spot on with his information. However though it may not be so elegant as a palmrest have you considered a USB fingerprint sensor as an alternative? This page has recommendations. And this Amazon page shows others.
