Dell XPS 15 9550 Issues...

I've still had an insane number of blue screen of deaths that are just attributed to "unexpected store exception," and when I had support from Dell nothing they did worked at all. Since then support as expired of course and I've tried wiping the drive and starting from scratch and that helped for a time and then of course the BSOD returned.

Now I have a new issue in that since Dell Support Assistant informed me of a new BIOS, I was also asked to update Dell Support Assistant today and now it just sits there in the loading screen. I get a flash of 34, 67, and 100 really fast twice, but nothing after that and it just sits. I'd let it sit there for 45 min the first time before I just closed it thinking it was just frozen, but tried a second time with the same result.

So with my previous constant BSOD issues it would appear that I cannot even use a default Dell program that Dell required the update for to use and upon contacting support I was told I would need to purchase a support package for this to be looked into (just the Dell Support Assistant issue as I've given up hope of Dell ever figuring out that issue unfortunately).

If anyone has some thoughts or ideas of what I could do for this I would greatly appreciate it.

I have this issue with the new BIOS and W10 1809.

I discovered that this happens when the XPS 15 9550 goes to sleep and runs on the battery. No worries when it is powered on the charger. I am also looking for a solution.

Hi Mmx56,

Thanks for posting.  Apologies that your system is not performing as expected.

All instances of the Dell SupportAssist program should be removed from your system first.  You may need to use a third party program removal tool to do this, once removed, then reinstall the newest version of SupportAssist and you shouldn't have further problems.

If you are having the same driver issues as the above poster, you can install drivers for your system manually.  Just go to the support page for the 9550 and download the drivers either to the desktop or to a USB thumb drive and install that way.

If you still require assistance and the system is under warranty, you may contact me privately. Be sure to include your personal information (name, address, telephone, email) and your computer's service tag number in your message. Thanks.

If there is no warranty, then you could contact our Out of Warranty team to get a quote for a paid service request.

I'd already removed the software by unintsall and then manually downloaded the support assistant again and it does the same thing I described. So unfortunately that isn't an answer that works.

Also, searching for drivers is not a great way to do things as Dell wants you to use the detection of system to make sure it's what you actually need. I've downloaded drivers for older computers I've had and while it was listed for my system it caused issues as I had a different version installed and in some respects was actually newer than what the drivers page said was the newest one. Unfortunately using the detection of your system requires support assistant and then the cycle continues.

Hopefully there is a fix to this, I've looked around the forums and it seems to be a problem for people across many systems for the last few years with no answers and multiple people replying saying they have the same problem, and asking if there was a solution. Unfortunately there never is a solution listed and it goes for 2-3 pages of people asking.

Any mod or admin have a thought on this perhaps?

The black screen (sometimes blue with_unexpected_store_exception) occured only when resuming from sleep and powered by the battery (never when powered by AC). So I disabled the option in Windows parameters > Battery > Battery Saver and I've let unchanged all other Power Options. I've got no more issues since this change (a week ago) at wake up when working with the battery. The battery has been changed early year. My XPS 15 9550 is out of warranty (3 years old) and I use DELL support site to update the drivers (detected when out of date). The sofwares DELL Update and Support Assist can help when needed. I hope this parameter will be the good ONE !
