Feedback for Support Team
Well. I thought my question was simple enough.
I had been looking around the internet to see if using Intel's Extreme Tuning Utility, and overclocking in general, would void my warranty. However, I was seeing some mixed messages and decided it would be best just to call support and ask this rather simple question to someone who would know.
I called the support line and was transferred from department to department at least 3 or 4 times. Ridiculous. I said the same thing every time: "I have a question about my warranty. Would overclocking my CPU void my warranty?" and somehow they managed to find a department that was better suited to answer my question every time.
The final line I was on said they would take a look and see if they could find the information for me, and while I was still irritated that it had taken this long, I decided to wait. After being put on hold, they disconnected my call. I wasn't being rude, I didn't say that my question was answered, nothing of the sort. They just dropped my call.
I know it's not a huge issue and it could have happened by mistake but honestly- when I paid a couple thousand dollars for a nice laptop and a 4-year warranty, you'd think that maybe you'd have a support team that would be able to answer a simple question. I will probably be looking somewhere else when my warranty expires... which won't be for a while.

The answer is that XTU will only work if you had an unlocked processor - - which is not available in this model. So, you can't overclock the CPU in this system at all.

aarondavis24,
Concerning the XPS 15 9570, overclocking is not advised. Because doing so could possibly cause harm to the system. This would not be covered under your warranty.
