Killer Wireless Issues - XPS 13 9300
I got a new XPS 13 9300 in May 2020 and have been fighting WiFi issues pretty much the entire time. Have spent much time researching, posting questions, and experimenting with suggestions.
My issue was with the WiFi speed. I have seen a number of posts where the Killer wireless card "disappears" altogether but I did not have that. Mine would work fine for a while, then get real slow - from 360 Mb down/12 Mb up to about 6 or 8 Mb down/1 Mb up. Would have to stop the WiFi connection, and restart it. This would work for a few minutes to a few hours.
Tried all the Killer driver/control center re-install suggestions to no avail.
FINALLY......
What finally dawned on me was battery saving settings. In the "old days", there were (at least) 3 power plans, with various settings in each. With Windows 10 2004, there is now only Balanced with very few settings in the plan. No settings for the wireless card. I found references to this with ways to re-add the "missing" plans but nothing worked. Could never get more than the "Balanced" plan.
CAUTION on modifying the registry as you can break your machine quickly!!!
I next resorted to the registry. Found the power plan section. Found the "Balanced" plan based on the identifier, and the wireless entries under that. Changed the "DC" (battery) setting to match the "AC" setting (changed the 1 to a 0), and WiFi has worked perfectly since - about a day now, all on battery.
Why Microsoft has chosen to hide all of the power plans and their settings is beyond me.....
I did do one other change that by itself did not help but may be worthwhile anyway. That was to use the Killer un-install utility to remove all their software, and install the Intel wireless driver for the AX200, version 21.90.3.2
Hope this helps others.
