no audio output or input devices found XPS 15 9510

The last time my computer was on it worked fine, but when I turned it back on it said it couldn't find any audio input or output devices. I've downloaded every update and troubleshooted but nothing has changed.Screenshot 2021-12-10 102338.pngScreenshot 2021-12-10 104427.png

is that the "Community Accepted Solution". Sorry but "install Windows 11" is per definition no solution to "I have no sound in Windows 10"

I have exactly the same problem of no Audio I/O devices showing and my XPS 15 9510 was supplied with Win 11 pre-installed.  Where has the sound system gone ?
