Not starting up. Strange Blink Codes.

Hello everyone, 

      I recently got an XPS 9520 from an eBay Refurbisher. It should be covered by the eBay warrantee, but I don't really want to send it off, file a claim, and then wait a long time to get it back. A few days ago it stopped booting up. The fan runs, the bottom of the computer gets warm, and the keyboard lights up, but the screen stays completely off. The screen doesn't show a boot logo or anything. The keyboard is also unresponsive. It shows caps lock being on, but I cannot toggle it.
      When the problem first occurred, the power light would flash 1 Amber, 3 White - which the service manual says is a Hinge Cable Short. Then shortly afterwards, it began blinking Amber 2 times only with no White. This blink code is not in the service manual and google searches didn't yield any answers. I contacted customer support and they said it was a low battery indicator. I tried using a different higher wattage charger and now it only blinks Amber once. 
       I tried disconnecting the battery, holding the power button for 30 seconds, and then disconnecting then reconnecting the RAM but that didn't help. 
       Anyone have any ideas what these blink codes might actually mean? If it is in fact a Hinge Cable Short, is that even feasible to fix at home or should I just send it out?
