Power button rarely starts boot
XPS laptop L702X
Update to my previous message. After numerous battery reinserts, power flushes, etc. today I was able ONCE to push power button and get a full boot into Win 10 desktop.
But after visiting Dell support site, the laptop shutdown normally (after bios update) .
Unfortunately, once again after the last shutdown the power button only flashes once briefly when pushed?
Battery appears fine, 5 lit LEDs, and adaptor blue LED ring is lit.
On top of everying this occurred around the recent major Win 10 update.

You might have problems with windows 10 more and more with each update especially the big ones. There are no win 10 drivers for your 9 yr old model. Although the button problem might be a hardware or wiring problem. Start planning to buy a new computer soon. The last bios update available is for windows 8 support. The details said Added Windows 8 support BIOS.
Did you run the diagnostics to test all the hardware?
