Problem with driver STMicroelectronics 3d accelerometer
Hi, I'm new in this forum. I recently noticed in the section "device manager" of Windows control panel an alert on the device "STMicroelectronics 3D Accelerometer"; looking up properties of the device I understood that the problem is driver-related. I tried to download drivers from dell site but there are not compatible ones for my PC (Dell XPS 15 9570). The driver I found were for 9560 and 9550 only but I tried them anyway, onviously they didn't work. I don't really know how to get rid of this problem which I think is causing system interrupt to show up on the task manager. Thanks in advance, Riccardo Barbieri.

@riccardoob
The 3D Accel. is used to retract a Hard Drives Head Stack Assembly in the event of a fall or severe bump.
But since SSD drives have no HSA the program is not needed.
You can go to "Programs and Features" and uninstall the program.

Thank you very much for your answer @U2CAMEB4ME (agree with you about @nyc10036 answer btw, I always try to answer with something that the user posting the question can actually try out). So you say that if I have an SSD I don't need the accelerometer? So I can just uninstall it from device manager

Welcome to the Dell Community @riccardoob
This is the driver that should work.
STMicro Accelerometer for Free Fall Data Protection:
https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=fy0m0&oscode=wt64a&productcode=xps-15-9570-laptop
If you have an SSD installed you do not need this program and it can be deleted.
Best regards,

I don't feel entitled to anything, I just think that when someone answer in a forum where people ask for help about certain matters, he should do it only if the answer is actually helpful, otherwise he is wasting his and someone else's time. But let's not discuss this further, this type of forum is no such place.

@riccardoob
"helpful" is in the eyes of whoever is looking at it.
This forum is FREE.
If you find it lacking and want to be spoonfed an answer then this is not the place for you.

@U2CAMEB4ME so Im lost with this myself I have a precision 5540 with a 1TB SSD. Mien says the Accelerometer is devective, and this laptop worked for a week flawlessly and now 25 days later it is an inoperable paperweight less then a month old. Don't download crazy stuff nothing like that, laptop is clean. Lil background, I only use it for music production less then a month old but past the 15 days to return to best buy. My Serato Studio software now wont work at all and it crashes; prior to this it would crash mid project and sometimes Id lose everything I tbought it was my external downloaded ccleaner for the 30 day free trial to run checks on drivers and mine is saying the 3 axis Accelerometer is devective revert to older version to avoud damage so I did that and no luvk Geek Squad did all they could with no luck. Downloading the latest from Dell and no luck still devective and still can not operate the Music DAW I use, Im now 7 days late on a project for Sony and its a bad look before this deal signing nect month if thats evening happening now. I cancelled a show this weekend over this, Computer crashed mid performance the week before. So this Dell Upgrade from my Asus that I sold the day I swiped the card for this has been a nightmare, any help or feedback on what I can do to fix this would be greatly appreciate it. Im making payments on a deffective laptop. This is a "refurb" I went this route for the windows 10 pro I hate 11. Is there something else going on? Idk GeekSquad was clueless so Im making a plan B C and Backdoor D thanx in advance

I'm also using an SSD, but the device should still "start" despite this fact.
This is how I fixed the problem. Open Device Manager, right-click on it and click Uninstall device, check the box that says Attempt to remove the driver for this device, then click OK.
Now click Action (menu bar) -> Scan for Hardware Changes.
If it still doesn't install, make sure to install the latest version of the driver, then install the application.
