RAM Upgrade

Question

Hi All

I am trying to upgrade the ram on my fairly new XPS 9510 from 16Gb (2x18) to 32Gb (2x16).

I have tried 2 different brands that match all the specs I can find for what is installed, the latest being Crucial CT2K16G4SFRA32A (being Micron it is the same brand that is installed) and neither is accepted by the laptop, the front light flashes and it never moves beyond the DELL screen. The professional who did the latest attempt for me could not find any reason for it not to be compatible.

Is there anything that works or is there something going on where I have to buy Dell supplied RAM only?

Why not buy what Crucial has tested to work? https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/dell/xps-15-(9510)

I did. The kit I bought is fifth on the list. Still doesn't work.
