Rode connect software shutting down communication apps

Question

I have a dell xps 9500. I have the rode videomic go ii. Great mic, works well.  I can download the rode connect software without issue. When I try to select the virtual microphone in communication apps like skype or telegram or zoom, all these apps shut down.  Deleting the software allows me to select the videomic go ii, and that works just fine.  However, I want to use the software to get the most crisp sound.  Anyone else has issues with the rode connect software?

Same problem with Dell Precision laptop and Rode NT-USB Mini using Rode Connect software. Worked ok with my Macbook Pro.
