Great info.. WHY DIDNT I get a 1645 or 47.. Wish i knew then what i know now lol.. Like many others say its a shame because it is really a new laptop barely used.
Thank you. One more question, why can't i upgrade the graphics, Better cpu, wireless card and so on? For instance, i know dell says the laptop won't work with faster ram but i can put in say 1600 instead of the 1130 9Or whatever) and it works fine? Cant, i do that with other components? If its cost appropriate of course..
The GPU is soldered to the mainboard - it's not upgradeable.
While you can install faster RAM, it won't run any faster than the maximum your CPU supports -- and the CPU is very limited in upgradeability. These were among the last Core 2 CPU systems sold before Intel released the Core i -- which requires a different mainboard (that's why the Studio XPS 1645 and 1647 were released, with the boards to support newer CPUs.
You can upgrade the wireless adapter - just make sure the antenna type (2- or 3-wire) matches.
Bear in mind the total value of this almost decade old system is about $50-75 -- carefully consider that before sinking money into upgrades.

Windows 10 should run - absent specific hardware such as media buttons, etc. which won't have drivers.
