Suggested SSD drives for 9530

Question

I have an XPS 15 (9530, Late 2013) with a "400-ABPH : 1TB 5400 rpm SATA Hard Drive + 32GB mSATA Solid State Drive". I have signs that the disk is starting to fail. Any suggested SSD I could replace it with (500GB or 1TB)?

Any 2.5' SATA SSD will work.  You won't need the cache SSD (the 32 G) unit -- that's to speed up the relatively slow hard drive.  You can disable the cache and remove it when you install the SSD to replace the hard drive.

No, you don't need a new 10 license. If you're planning to reload Windows, it'll auto-activate.

To disable the RST cache,

(you're better off without it, using just the native SSD). Yes, it's a separate drive.

So the cache SSD sits separately, not together with the current drive? How do I disable it, I assume somewhere within the BIOS? Does it matter if I leave it on and let it stay put? (being lazy.....)

We'll see what comes out of this. This started soon after a recent Windows upgrade; Outlook stopped working and then I got more and more error messages (incl "[file] is corrupted) and hang-ups. Cleaned and re-installed... Having done a thorough system analysis, both from SupportAssist and the "Bios" version with no errors detected I am now running chkdsk /r/f. No clear indication yet but PC works fine after a clean install but then functions start to deteriorate. For me this has previously indicated a disk slowly going bad. May be wrong here though. But the old disc in anyway to slow

Due to a failed battery I thought it was time to replace the drive as well (even though it works fine now). I bought one of the disks in the link above. Many thanks for that. But back to one of my questions around the RST cache.

If I don't remove it and keep it enabled, what consequences would it have?
If I don't remove it but disable it, what consequences would it have?
