Understanding the System Configuration [when you click "View product specs" on support page]

Hi Dell Gurus!

Hope you had a great Christmas and New years!

Please may I ask whether there is a support page that explains the codes on the "System Configuration" page.

When I open it up you have to decipher the codes, I don't know what they mean, I can make out CPU and GPU details as I know what I'm looking for but any more detail like what the power supply is not readable for me. I'm quite new to PCs so I'd really appreciate any help.

To give an example, I've screenshot one of the components/software that doesn't make any sense to me.Screenshot 2022-01-05 180849.png

Please let me know if you know.

Thank you

Kind regards,

Yogi

If anyone was interested, I managed to find out the power supply is a 12V 500W. It's basically an 80+ Platinum power supply.

it was this code here: 12MXJ : MOD,CHAS,L6,500W,EPA,L,5000

If anyone knows the others I'll mark yours as the solution, but for now this is the information I was mainly looking for.

As a long-time Dell buyer, I'm going to share a complaint that I've had for a long time; that Dell seems to go out of their way to *ensure* that once a system is purchased, that the new owner has next to no way of A. Confirming that the system they built or selected (in terms of a Refurb) is the exact system they *thought* they were looking for and B. that said system, once delivered, contains exactly the components and specifications that the purchaser spent great time in choosing.

This is all due to the (apparently) cryptically selected codes and part numbers that *no* civilian (or, I'd guess many Dell employees) can view and understand, save for the techs who construct the inventory databases.

As the user above has requested, *at the very least* Dell could provide a Master List parts, components *and their UNDERSTANDABLELY named versions*, so that those of us who take the leap of purchasing a new Dell computer, can check and confirm that the system that arrives, that we paid not a little money for, is the system we thought we were purchasing.

Just received a Refurb Precision system and am facing the exact same puzzle that Yogi above faced. Half hour with Pro support showed that even seasoned techs are no more qualified in translating those unknown codes into simple English, relating to a known part or component.

This is a simple database issue that could be accomplished in a day (once the Corporate will was mustered).

@jmickelct1 Indeed!

I am checking to see if the available onboard graphics is "integrated".

Can't make out where and what it is form the cryptic spec list.

Is it possible to view all hardware specifics in the system's BIOS?

Hello,

I just purchased from Dell Outlet a XPS 17 Refurbished laptop.  When I looked at the specs and decided on the purchase, I understood what I was getting.  Today looking at the service tag and attempting to figure out the details of the machine, I managed to get a list similar to that which Yogi posted above.  Where can you find out what this means, or perhaps obtain the same descriptive listing that caused me to purchase the machine in the first place? Shame on Dell for not being able to produce a listing of included items that a non-cryptographer can actually read.

Any advice, guidance, help would be greatly appreciated.

Dell, please fix this.
